I continue to work on net zero and associated climate science and policy issues. This still seems to be a controversial topic (as judged by the emails I receive). It’s not my intention to needlessly provoke, or to devalue the tremendous efforts that many people have and continue to make in decarbonising our societies. However, I’ve still yet to see any real engagement with what I consider to be some of the risks of framing climate action almost exclusively around the concept of net zero. In this talk (55 mins long, then Q&A session) I have another go at trying to explain – to a general audience – why there is much more going on with net zero than many suspect.
